new routes
Well, I got off work this morning and went for a nice little ride around Denton. I really haven’t ridden much since the HHH. There has been just two much going on and I’ve been sick for the past 4 days. But this morning, I felt great and I really wanted to find some good routes around Lisa's house.
I started out at about 7:30am and found a nice little route that started in a residential area, then dumped me off on Hwy 377. I took 377 to Craford Rd. and rode around the Robson Ranch/Justin area. There were some really good, lightly traveled roads in that area and the whole route was great for a weekend ride, but the first 5 fives could be a little dicey during the week. I'll just have find some better road to start on.
There were also some challenging inclines along the way, 850 ft. of elevation gain on a 24 mile route. A lot more hills than the Saginaw area. Plus, I saw quite a few other riders along the route.... seems to be a popular area for cyclists.

quickie cancelled
Well, I never made it to Colorado. I was planning on leaving after the HHH, but decided to come home first and leave the following day. On the drive back to Saginaw I called Steve, just to BS, and that’s when he informed me about Hurricane Katrina. He told me he was in the middle of packing things up and getting ready to evacuate. So, I let him go and told him that the "Saginaw Hurricane Shelter" was avalible if they needed it!
Steve, Wendy, Doreen, Harry, Cody, the Girls and Wendy's Parents are all OK. As far as we know, none of their house's are under water and have no structural damage. They have only received some minor to moderate wind damage.
I decided to hold off on Colorado until I knew how things were going with Thompson’s and whether or not they would need a place to stay. I cleaned up the house and got everything ready for the possible arrival of the clan. They arrived on Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 31st) and have been at my place since.... I'll be staying at Lisa’s to give them more room
Upon the arrival of the refugee's I made the decision to cancel the Colorado trip altogether. It just didn’t feel right to be taking a trip to heaven while they were going through hell!
